A Sligo woman is building on the proud tradition of Irish farmhouse accommodation, with plans for expanding the enterprise established by her parents as she continues to work alongside them.
The west of Ireland isn’t always renowned for its climate but somehow that doesn’t seem to matter in Sligo with its glorious, sandy beaches one of its biggest draws for visitors. Sligo, or ‘Sligeach’ in Gaeilge, loosely translates to ‘shelly valley’, because it’s quite literally full of beaches. This stretch of coastline will have you spoiled for choice between Mullaghmore, Rosses Point, Streedagh and Strandhill.

Sligo Food Trail members continued their winning ways at the Irish Hotel Awards last week in the Galmont Hotel, Galway. The Radisson Blu triumphed in two categories, winning the International Brand Hotel of the Year and the Family Hotel of the Year (Connacht). Colette Tiernan from The Sligo Park Hotel was crowned winner of the prestigious Rising Star of the Year Award.
Sligo Live has announced the first acts to play the biggest and best Festival in its 15 year history. Next October features top Irish and International artists appearing in Sligo’s theatres, clubs, cafes and pubs in an extended format including two weekends from Friday October 18th to Bank Holiday Monday, October 28th 2019.
