DESCRIPTION:‍♂️Join the Sligo Camino on Saturday 5th July!‍♂️ \nThere are still a few places remaining on the 10th Sligo Camino. This spectacular 34km takes you through the beautiful Sligo landscape finishing in the village of Coolaney. Tickets are at https://www.sligocamino.ie/tickets.html \nEnjoy regular breaks and stops and the tastiest meal you will every have upon completion. Make sure to stay around for John Colleary in the Camino Marquee that evening too. \nTickets for the Sligo Camino 2025 cost €60 (plus a booking fee). This includes bus transfer\, light refreshments en route\, dinner on return to Coolaney\, a commemorative Sligo Camino t-shirt / native tree being planted for every walker and a Sligo Camino Finishers Medal for all walkers! \n \nWhere?\nThe route is along the Sligo Way from Dromahair\, Co. Leitrim to Coolaney\, Co. Sligo.\nStage 1 Dromahair to Slishwood. Sligo. \nHow difficult?\nBe clear that the Sligo Camino is physically demanding & you should only attempt it if you have regular experience of walking 10km without stopping. Do not register if you are carrying an injury\, have any underlying medical conditions or have no experience of walking long distances. The walk is not suitable for children under 14 even with adult supervision. \nTerrain?\nThe Camino route incorporates tarred roads\, gravel paths\, boggy hillside\, timber boardwalks\, forest tracks\, grassy trails and stone slabs. The route finishes with 8km of country lanes around the Annaghmore Estate between Collooney and Coolaney. The highest point is approximately 275m around Slieve Daene. \nGuided or self-led?\nThe Sligo Camino is self-led. DESCRIPTION:On the first Saturday in July\, trek 34km from Dromahair\, Co. Leitrim to Coolaney\, Co. Sligo and discover the Sligo Camino. \nThe Camino follows the Sligo Way through some of the finest scenery in the West of Ireland. The route is a challenging mixture of tracks\, trails\, forest paths\, finishing with 8km of country lanes around the Annaghmore Estate. Please note that the Sligo Camino at 34km is a demanding and physically challenging trek. Anyone carrying an injury\, taking medication or unsure of their fitness\, should consult with a doctor before registering. \nRoute highlights include: \n\nHistoric 16th century Creevelea Abbey on the banks of the River Bonet.\nSkirting between Lough Gill and Slish Woods along boardwalks.\nYeats’ Lake Isle of Inishfree.\nSlieve Dhá Éan and the secluded mountain lake of Lough Lumman.\nBallygawley Lough and Union Wood.\nThe Teeling memorial to the Battle of Carrignagat in 1798.\nTranquil laneways through the Annagh Beg estate.\nThe best cup of tea you’ve ever had at the finish!\n\nWhen? There will be walk leaders interspersed among the walkers should you require assistance. \nHow many hours? \nDepending on your speed\, the walk will take between 6 and 8 hours.\nIn the interests of safety all walkers must reach the two food stops (6 miles and 14 miles) before the two sweep-up leaders.
