SUMMARY:Cairde Opening Festival Club with Select
DESCRIPTION:Sat. 4 Jul. 2026\, 11.30pm\nAdmission Free\nTo celebrate the opening of Cairde Sligo Arts Festival and following Phil Collins’ durational film event they shoot horses\, Cairde and The Model are delighted to present Select. \nSelect is a Sligo based\, grassroots collective and club night pushing underground dance music on Ireland’s west coast made up of notjack and etrah. The pair have spent the past seven years building an independent party series that’s helped redefine & promote Sligo’s nightlife and music scene. \nSince its inception in 2018 Select has grown into a trusted name for high-energy\, no-frills dancefloors. Their sound moves fluidly across UK garage\, 2-step\, house\, techno and breaks\, with Notjack and Etrah’s B2B sets at the core\, restless\, bass-driven and dialled in. \nOperating across everything from DIY spaces to established venues\, Select has carved out a reputation for consistently delivering proper parties with a clear sense of identity. Their bookings reflect that same ethos: a considered mix of emerging and established talent\, spanning both Irish and international scenes. Past guests include Shampain\, Surka\, Derv\, SHEE\, Prozak\, Osmosis Jones and DJ Swisha\, alongside a strong commitment to platforming local artists. \nCommunity sits at the centre of what they do. Select parties draw from grassroots club culture\, fostering inclusive\, open dance floors without compromising on musical quality. It’s a philosophy that’s earned them a loyal following and a recognition as a key club night operating outside Ireland’s main urban centres. \n\nAll events taking place in The Model on Sat 04 July – they shoot horses\, associated events and opening festival club – are free to attend. \nThere is a suggested donation of €10 with proceeds going to Medical Aid for Palestinians. Donations are welcomed\, but nobody will be excluded for financial reasons. \n\nIn collaboration with Cairde Sligo Arts Festival.

SUMMARY:Culture Night Sligo
DESCRIPTION:Sligo is set to come alive with music\, art\, theatre\, workshops and late-night experiences as Culture Night returns on Friday 19 September. More than 30 free events will take place across the county from 4pm until late\, celebrating local creativity and cultural diversity. \nHighlights include a multi-cultural celebration at The Model\, a moon-themed evening of poetry\, film and music at Yeats Society Sligo\, and Allta Creations’ roving street theatre\, The Púca Roams\, inspired by Irish folklore. Across the county\, visitors can experience a revival of ancient Irish annal-writing at Sligo Folk Park in Riverstown\, art and writing in the dramatic Gleniff Horseshoe (gRounded)\, and a surf culture celebration with Barry Britton in Strandhill (Tides of Expression). \nOther standout events range from traditional music in the medieval surrounds of Sligo Abbey (Sligo Soundscapes)\, to a powerful exhibition of The Hands of History bronze sculptures at Hawk’s Well Theatre\, and the feel-good community sing-along Sligo Sings at City Hall. \nThis year’s programme also features Culture Night Late\, supported by the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport in support of the Night-Time Economy initiative\, and delivered in partnership by Sligo BID and Sligo County Council. From 9pm\, audiences can enjoy a live music broadcast from The Model in partnership with RTÉ 2FM\, atmospheric performances in the Yeats Building’s Oak Moon garden café\, rising teenage bands at The Nest\, and an immersive late-night experience at Metalbox Workshop Collective on Adelaide Street\, offering a rare chance to explore this creative space at Image Framers after dark through film\, visual art and experimental music. \nFollowing an Open Call in late May\, Sligo Arts Service received 42 applications for Culture Night funding under three different categories: Flagship events\, Featured events and a countywide programme entitled Culture Wide. This year\, three Flagship events\, four Featured events and 22 Culture Wide events have been supported\, with approximately €25\,000 in funding committed to events. \nIn addition to the funded programme\, Sligo Arts Service will promote other independent events\, ensuring the night showcases the full range of cultural activity taking place in Sligo. \nCulture Night Sligo is funded by The Arts Council and delivered locally by Sligo County Council’s Arts Service. \nThe full Culture Night Sligo 2025 programme is available to see here.
