SUMMARY:Declan Nerney Live in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Declan Nerney was born in the heart of Ireland in Drumlish Co. Longford\, at a unique period of time in the music scene worldwide. A revolution in rock and pop brought us The Beatles\, Elvis\, and the Rolling Stones\, while here in Ireland the magnificent show band boom was about to explode. \nA young man growing up at that time\, Declan was being heavily influenced by these greats and indeed was getting the rare opportunity to see most of the top show bands appear in his native town of Drumlish. \nHe would cajole his mother into seeing Joe Dolan\, Big Tom\, Philomena Begley\, The Capital Show band\, and many more perform when they appeared at the marquee at the end of May and early June. From his vantage point close to the stage\, he would absorb every move made by the guitarist in the bands\, watching his fingers slide along the strings\, hoping that one day he might be up there performing just like Dan O’Hara or Seamus McMahon. \nDeclan has went on to have a super career that has spanned over 4 decades at the top of Irish Country Music winning many accolades along the way and scoring countless hits with his catalogue of trademark songs. Join him and his super live band with special guests John McNicholl and John Hogan for a nostalgic night of music\, song and laughter on the 2024 Where’s the Party nationwide concert tour.

SUMMARY:David Munnelly\, Mick Conneely & Catriona Ni Cheannbhain
DESCRIPTION:David Munnelly (accordion) and Mick Conneely (fiddle)\, joined by special guest singer Caitríona Ní Cheannabháin\, will perform at the Coleman Music Centre in Gurteen on Saturday 27th April at 8.00pm. \n“Dave and Mick are master musicians no doubt about it\, they have the credentials: the track record\, the bands\, albums and collaborations\, but here you get more than just great musicianship\, you get a dialogue\, a conversation happening now\, not parroted lines from some slickly rehearsed ensemble\, that is the real excitement here. Cleary they have practice long and hard\, there are gaps and stops and changes of rhythm\, which the boys hit spot on\, but you’d be forgiven if you thought they’d just walked into the pub and played straight of the cuff.” – Seán Laffey \nTickets are €15 and can be booked by phone on 071 9182599 or on the Coleman Music Centre website here.

SUMMARY:Hothouse Flowers
DESCRIPTION:Something amazing happens when Hothouse Flowers step onto the stage – something that has been shaped by over thirty-five years of singing and playing all over the world\, yet no two shows have ever been the same! There is a sense of musical adventure\, an impulse to reach new heights and depths in music where the unspoken aim is that the band and the audience become one and the world becomes a different place for a while. \nThere is an unpredictable energy in the band that harkens back to their “Risk” days playing on the dancefloors of Dublin’s late-night clubs. They call upon their grand repertoire to create a show that is unique to the time and place. Improvisation can come at any point and allow the band to express their brightest and their darkest influences. “Rock and Roll is not about safety or politeness\, it is not about perfection either. It is expression and it is spirit.” Humour is also never far from a Hothouse Flowers night. They do not take themselves seriously however\, there is no mistaking the musical integrity among them as they open up to each other in musical dialogue. \nFiachna\, Liam and Peter are traditional musicians. This allows for moments of ancestral connection. From a Doors-like musical workout one minute\, to an earnest and timeless offering to the memory of Currachaí na Tra Báine the next. A song inherited by Fiachna describing the blow inflicted upon a community and a family due to drowning. This moment and moments like these set the Flowers apart from almost any other band of their time and trade. Their debut album\, ‘People’\, was the most successful debut album in Ireland ever! \nHothouse Flowers are a rock n’roll band\, Hothouse Flowers are a traditional band\, Hothouse Flowers are a soul band. Despite the bands lengthy career there is a sense of unfinished business. Every night they want to play the best gig they have ever played and take the musical risks that can maybe make that possible. There are still songs to be written and emotions to share. \nThe band was touring in Ireland\, the UK and on the festival circuit prior to the global pandemic and saw them reveal new material from their brand-new album Let’s Do This Thing which they released on www.hothouseflowers.com and on all digital platforms just as their touring plans were all put on hold. Throughout the pandemic Hothouse Flowers played an online concert at Dublin’s legendary Whelan’s music venue as well as appearing on the Late Late Show\, The Tommy Tiernan Show\, and as part of RTE TVs Ireland in Music and TradFest series. The band returned to their natural habitat in front of a live audience performing shows in Ireland such as the Galway Folk Festival and Forest Fest\, Glastonbury and Rewind in the UK\, The Comfort Festival in Italy\, The Zeltic Festival in Dudelange in Luxembourg among many more!

SUMMARY:Mary Gauthier - Special Guest Jaimee Harris
DESCRIPTION:“With songwriting as powerful as hers\, there’s no need to go looking for qualifiers. She’s a unique\, intrinsically valuable musical voice. And there’s never a surplus of those.” — Randy Lewis\, Los Angeles Time \nHer eleventh album\, the first record in over 8 years consisting of all her own songs\, Dark Enough to See the Stars\, follows the profound antidote to trauma\, Rifles & Rosary Beads\, her 2018 collaborative work with wounded Iraq war veterans. It garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album\, as well as a nomination for Album of the Year by the Americana Music Association. Publication of her first book\, the illuminating Saved by a Song: The Art and Healing Power of Songwriting\, in 2021\, brought her more praise. \nBrandi Carlile has said\, “Mary’s songwriting speaks to the tender aspects of our humanness. We need her voice in times like these more than we ever have.” The Associated Press called Gauthier “one of the best songwriters of her generation.” \nMary’s songs have been recorded by dozens of artists\, including Jimmy Buffett\, Dolly Parton\, Boy George\, Blake Shelton\, Tim McGraw\, Bettye Lavette\, Mike Farris\, Kathy Mattea\, Bobby Bare\, Amy Helm and Candi Staton and have appeared extensively in Film and Television\, most recently on HBO TV’s Yellowstone. \n“…from start to finish\, Gauthier masterfully makes the personal universal.”\n-The Associated Press \n“Mary Gauthier is known for her astute ability to share sentiments common to all\, even when those truths may be difficult to discern. She’s never shrunk from that responsibility as it applies to probing the depth of her soul in order to uncover those sentiments that may well resonate with others as well.”\n-American Songwriter \n“..these songs on Dark Enough to See the Stars resonate with emotions that many of us have felt in recent times but were unable to express nearly as well as Gauthier does.”\n-Glide Magazine \n““Fall Apart World\,” the track that opens Mary Gauthier’s new album\, Dark Enough to See the Stars\, might just be a perfect song…Gauthier’s album shines as one of the best of the year so far.”\n-No Depression \n“‘Dark Enough to See the Stars’ is certain to be a musical highlight of the year\, and another Gauthier classic to carry with us through the journey of life.”\n-Entertainment Focus \n“Under heartfelt wishes for no more pain or struggle\, and thoughts of reuniting beyond this mortal coil\, Dark Enough To See The Stars shows Mary Gauthier as a subtle\, evocative wordsmith at her peak. It’s a highly rewarding album.”\n-Holler \n“Dark Enough to See the Stars stands with her very best work. Just as her song “Mercy Now” has been covered by many artists\, this collection of ten songs has several that should endure for years to come. You may shed some tears\, recall fond memories of your own\, or simply just marvel at how Gauthier delivers so many poignant\, relatable emotions that most of us would be hard-pressed to express. Rarely does an album have so much emotional impact.”\n-Glide Magazine \n“From the opening number to the last\, the album is captivating\, leaving you in no doubt that you’re in the company of one of the great storytellers and songwriters of our age.”\n-Entertainment Focus

SUMMARY:On The Road Again- An Evening with Tom Dunne\, Fiachna Ó Braonáin & Alan Connor
DESCRIPTION:Following the trio’s first instant sellout tour which received rave reviews\, On The Road Again promises to be a fun evening of songs and stories as Fiachna Ó Braonáin of Hothouse Flowers\, Tom Dunne of Something Happens & multi-instrumentalist Alan Connor hit the road together for the very first time! \nDespite having shared stages across the world over several decades\, Tom Dunne and Fiachna Ó Braonáin had never actually performed together until they were invited to do so on RTÉ Radio 1’s Ray Darcy show where they performed a Christy Moore song\, John O Dreams\, and a Willie Nelson song\, On The Road Again. Ray D’Arcy loved it\, Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Tom Dunne had a ball… and were joking they should do more of it! Or perhaps… only half-joking. \nSince then several coffees were had and they decided to make it happen! Their respective bands were from different musical worlds but Tom Dunne and Fiachna Ó Braonáin were always united by a love of performance and songwriting and were very taken with what those different schools of thought could bring to their coffee table. Since then they have been working on what songs they could perform together including some new songs neither have performed publicly before. \nMulti-instrumentalist Alan Connor was then drafted in to add some piano\, guitar and percussion to the dynamic duo. Alan Connor has toured with Sharon Shannon for over ten years and regularly performs with Something Happens and Frances Black. He is also a member of RTÉ’s The Late Late Show House Band since 2021.

SUMMARY:Luka Bloom
DESCRIPTION:In 1972 Barry Moore wrote a song called ‘Wave Up To The Shore’. Not his first song\, but it had something. A dynamic Irish singer/songwriter whose music is defined by passion\, lyricism\, and a respect for tradition coupled with a willingness to defy expectations\, was already a seasoned veteran of the folk scenes in Europe and the British Isles when he reinvented himself as Luka Bloom in 1987.\n As a solo acoustic act with a big voice and intense guitar style he managed to channel the energy and power of rock into albums like The Acoustic Motorbike (1992)\, Turf (1994) and Between the Mountain and the Moon (2002)\, rising to international acclaim and becoming one of Ireland’s best-respected contemporary folk artists. \n Prolific in the studio and even more so on the stage\, Bloom’s career became that of the seemingly tireless D.I.Y. troubadour whose unpredictable varied musical repertoire has included eclectic cover albums\, socio-political anthems\, world music fusions\, and heartfelt organic folk. After starting his own label\, he maintained a steady stream of studio and live albums like The Man Is Alive (2008) and 2014’s jazz-folk standout Head & Heart\, and also published the memoir Homeplace. Amid his varied catalogue are also a number of interesting diversions including a 2018 guided meditation album.
