SUMMARY:FAME
DESCRIPTION:Definitely a shift from Disney\, this year’s Ursuline College TY musical takes a different path as they explore the stories of students in a Performing Arts school\, hungry for Fame and freedom of expression but first must come the discipline and struggle of finding out who they are as individuals. A musical for everyone to enjoy with electrifying dance numbers and sweet melodies. This production is not to be missed.

SUMMARY:Luka Bloom
DESCRIPTION:In 1972 Barry Moore wrote a song called ‘Wave Up To The Shore’. Not his first song\, but it had something. A dynamic Irish singer/songwriter whose music is defined by passion\, lyricism\, and a respect for tradition coupled with a willingness to defy expectations\, was already a seasoned veteran of the folk scenes in Europe and the British Isles when he reinvented himself as Luka Bloom in 1987.\n As a solo acoustic act with a big voice and intense guitar style he managed to channel the energy and power of rock into albums like The Acoustic Motorbike (1992)\, Turf (1994) and Between the Mountain and the Moon (2002)\, rising to international acclaim and becoming one of Ireland’s best-respected contemporary folk artists. \n Prolific in the studio and even more so on the stage\, Bloom’s career became that of the seemingly tireless D.I.Y. troubadour whose unpredictable varied musical repertoire has included eclectic cover albums\, socio-political anthems\, world music fusions\, and heartfelt organic folk. After starting his own label\, he maintained a steady stream of studio and live albums like The Man Is Alive (2008) and 2014’s jazz-folk standout Head & Heart\, and also published the memoir Homeplace. Amid his varied catalogue are also a number of interesting diversions including a 2018 guided meditation album.

SUMMARY:The Felice Brothers
DESCRIPTION:The Felice Brothers first emerged from the Hudson Valley nearly two decades ago with a gloriously ramshackle sound that drew on everything from Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan to Walt Whitman and Flannery O’Connor. In just a few short years\, the group went from busking in the subway to playing Radio City Music Hall with Bright Eyes and appearing everywhere from the Newport Folk Festival to Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble.\n Beginning with 2007’s Tonight At The Arizona\, the band helped pave the way for the modern folk revival\, while at the same time challenging its boundaries and conventions with bold sonic experimentation and unyielding integrity. The New York Times likened their music to “the rootsy mysticism of the Band\,” while Rolling Stone praised the “scrappiness” of their “folk-rock noir\,” and The Guardian hailed their songs as “impeccably crafted\, with literary-minded lyrics that are both playful and profound.” \n The band’s newest record\, Valley of Abandoned Songs\, marks The Felice Brothers’ debut for Conor Oberst’s new Million Stars label and showcases the group at their most intimate and unvarnished. Balancing hope and despair in equal measure\, the album explores the search for meaning and connection through the eyes of a wide-ranging cast of misfits and outcasts\, and though the recordings here span several years of almost-lost tunes\, the result is a thoroughly cohesive collection that manages to feel both utterly timeless and particularly attuned to the present all at once.

SUMMARY:I Can't Believe It's Not Ireland
DESCRIPTION:Duration: 150 Mins Age: 16+\n Join Paddy on a hilariously insightful journey through the history of partition and the Ireland of the future…\n Imagine this. It’s 2032. The people have spoken on both sides of the border and Ireland is a brand new 32-county country. There’s a new flag. A new anthem. There’s even a new capital! As Unionists holiday in the south\, discovering the imperial joys of ‘Royal’ Dublin – southerners discover the ancient landscape of Ulster beyond the retail outlets of Newry and Titanic Belfast. Magical things happen when you create a new country – where EVERYTHING is on the table – and it’s exciting.\n Leave all your preconceptions at the door. It’s not a United Ireland. It’s not an ‘agreed’ Ireland. It’s not ‘shared’ – nor is it ‘new’. It’s simply- ‘I can’t believe it’s not Ireland’! But first…we have to get there….

SUMMARY:Mammary Mountain (VR experience) Tara Baoth Mooney\, Camille Baker\, Maf’j Alvarez
DESCRIPTION:To mark Daffodil Day 2025 Hawk’s Well Theatre hosts Mammary Mountain (VR experience) by Sligo based artist Tara Baoth Mooney\, Camille Baker\, and Maf’j Alvarez. \n Tara Baoth Mooney will also talk about the experience in an informal panel conversation with special guests on Sunday at 6pm. \n Mammary Mountain is an intimate immersive story and embodied haptic experience that explores dis-ease within the body and its relationship to the broader context of the land through the breast cancer journey. These pressing themes and social realities are explored through the prism of artist Tara Baoth Mooney’s experience of breast cancer\, interwoven with patients’ and survivors’ stories of their cancer treatment\, recovery and post treatment trauma. \n The result is a piece of work with many deep roots\, bringing together the personal and the collective\, the abstract and the representational\, in an intimate and far-reaching investigation of eco-psychosocial models of human-landscape interaction.
