DESCRIPTION:Summer Seisiún 2025 Traditional Music Show – A Music Trail Through Ireland returns to entertain locals and visitors on Thursday evenings @7:30pm\, throughout July and August in the historic surroundings of The Yeats Building Sligo (July 7th\, 14th\, 21st and 28th & August 11th\, 18th\, and 25th) featuring CCÉ Fred Finn’s finest young musicians & dancers. \nComhaltas’ 2025 National Seisiún Programme provides a unique and authentic Irish traditional entertainment experience in 43 venues throughout Ireland this summer. One of the longest running summer shows of its kind-close to 40 years in existence-Sesiún attracts increasing numbers of visitors from overseas and nearer home with a show that captivates its audiences and welcomes participation. \nAfter the show of authentic Irish traditional music\, song\, dance and storytelling\, light refreshments are served during the short interval. The second part of the evening’s entertainment unfolds and guests are invited to join the Comhaltas Seisiún experience\, taking to the floor as they wish\, with a step\, tune\, song\, or story! \nJoin us in our Comhaltas Seisiún experience this Summer at The Yeats Building Sligo. \nAdmission is €10.00 and children are free.

SUMMARY:James Morrison Festival
DESCRIPTION:The James Morrison Traditional Music Festival is run during the weekend of the August Bank Holiday weekend and is sponsored by Sligo County Council. \nThe festival commemorates the musical genius of James Morrison who was born in Drumfin near Riverstown in 1893. He emigrated to America in 1915 and became famous for his band which played in the Irish Dance halls of Manhattan in New York. He was also a composer and teacher of Irish music. \nHe\, together with Michael Coleman and Paddy Killoran (all from Sligo) introduced the “Sligo Style” of fiddle playing which has continued to be played in New York to the present day. The festival starts on the Friday nights and continues on the Saturday and Sunday.

DESCRIPTION:Summer Seisiún 2025 Traditional Music Show – A Music Trail Through Ireland returns to entertain locals and visitors on Thursday evenings @7:30pm\, throughout July and August in the historic surroundings of The Yeats Building Sligo (July 7th\, 14th\, 21st and 28th & August 11th\, 18th\, and 25th) featuring CCÉ Fred Finn’s finest young musicians & dancers. \nComhaltas’ 2025 National Seisiún Programme provides a unique and authentic Irish traditional entertainment experience in 43 venues throughout Ireland this summer. One of the longest running summer shows of its kind-close to 40 years in existence-Sesiún attracts increasing numbers of visitors from overseas and nearer home with a show that captivates its audiences and welcomes participation. \nAfter the show of authentic Irish traditional music\, song\, dance and storytelling\, light refreshments are served during the short interval. The second part of the evening’s entertainment unfolds and guests are invited to join the Comhaltas Seisiún experience\, taking to the floor as they wish\, with a step\, tune\, song\, or story! \nJoin us in our Comhaltas Seisiún experience this Summer at The Yeats Building Sligo. \nAdmission is €10.00 and children are free.

DESCRIPTION:Wipeout Festival offers a vibrant and dynamic arts event on the grounds of the National Surf Centre in Strandhill which is welcoming and open to everyone in the community. \nWipeout aims to engage in diverse audiences through community outreach\, to offer inclusive and accessible programming that connects artists and audiences\, and to strengthen community ties by celebrating local artistic talent. \n \nTheir aim is to enhance Sligo’s cultural scene with a high-quality accessible arts event that encourages and inspires young people to engage in arts practice by involvement in a day long concert featuring young bands that are making it happen for themselves both locally and nationally. \nThe Festival is dedicated to showcasing emerging young independent musicians/bands playing original music. Wipeout Festival strives to promote innovative artists\, giving them a platform both locally and nationally in the dynamic environment of the National Surf Centre\, Strandhill. \nTheir ambition is to create an artist friendly Festival based on their knowledge of emerging artists. Wipeout Festival also strives to collaborate and celebrate Sligo Visual artists whose work is used as the backdrop for the event. \nFocused on artistic excellence and making new music and visual art accessible to a wide audience\, they strive to deliver meaningful cultural experiences that offer great value in our community\, while celebrating the transformative power of the arts.
