DESCRIPTION:Sligo BID have partnered up with Sligo On Ice to offer Sensory Skating options on Tuesdays at 6pm and Sundays at 10am\, starting from Tuesday 18th November in the ice rink in Queen Maeve Square. This will help to offer Christmas fun to all in Sligo town. \nThe sensory skating sessions will offer reduced numbers\, low lights and low sounds. The ice rink can also accommodate manual wheelchair skaters. \nThis initiative is part of the Sligo Town Night Time Economy Pilot. The pilot is funded through the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport and delivered in partnership by Sligo BID and Sligo County Council.

DESCRIPTION:New Home for Local Crafters and Traders \nSligo’s vibrant market scene is making a comeback. Following the closure of a large Sunday market earlier this year\, dozens of local artisans\, producers\, and craftspeople have been left without a home. Now\, a new initiative is stepping in to fill the gap. \nThe Sligo Indoor Market at The Canopy will officially on Sunday\, 28th of September\, in the heart of Sligo town. \nThe idea began in April when Berenice Beukes hosted an evening market mixing retro food\, music\, and clothing. That momentum quickly evolved into a one-off Sunday market at the Yeats Building and Courtyard\, where many former Strandhill stallholders reunited with each other and their customers. The response was fantastic from both the traders and customers. \nTo bring the project to life\, Berenice partnered with Clodagh S. Higgins — a Business Coach and owner of local Social Media Agency – Sligo Hub. Clodagh co-ordinated communications with stallholders and approached The Canopy\, who embraced the idea of giving Sligo’s crafters a new home in the heart of the town centre. \nThe response was overwhelming with over 87 applicants who were eager to trade. To start the market will have 24 stalls and hopefully there will be space to grow in the future. Messages of support have been coming through from stallholders over the past few weeks as we get closer to opening day – one trader said “It’s brilliant to see such a large response and I think the Canopy is going to be a great success and well done to all involved.” \n“When the large one closed\, the community lost more than just a market — it lost a meeting place for the people of Sligo. The Canopy gives us a chance to rebuild that energy right in the centre of town\, weatherproof and warm. We are truly grateful that the owners of The Canopy were so accommodating and like us\, value the importance of having a weekly market in Sligo town.” said co-organiser Clodagh S.Higgins. \n“We are delighted to be able to host the indoor market. This is an exciting initiative and further underlines our commitment to assisting local businesses” said owner of The Canopy – Neil Monahan\nThe Canopy’s central location offers both locals and visitors an easy way to explore Sligo’s creative scene\, coffee culture and shop unique\, handmade goods. You can expect to find stalls of Jewellery\, Art\, Clothing\, Crochet\, Candles\, Vinyl\, Biltong\, Baked treats\, Photographic Art\, Knitwear\, Skincare\, Wood Art\, 3D Printing plus much more. \nThe market will run every Sunday leading into Christmas.

DESCRIPTION:Don your Christmas jumpers and Santa hats and let’s get lit for another Sligo Glow Walk – and this time\, it’s Christmas! \nSligo Glow Walk is back – and this time\, it’s Christmas! \nThe Christmas Glow Walk is a family-friendly\, Christmas-themed Glow-in-the-Dark walk over a 3km route in Sligo Town. Dress to impress and bring your furry friends! \nLet’s make Sligo glow! Starting at 6:45pm from Queen Maeve Square (next to Sligo on Ice)\, the walk will head proceed to Doorly Park Playground. The walk will then return to Queen Maeve Square along the same route. \nThe Christmas Glow Walk is free\, open to all ages\, and dog-friendly. Walkers are encouraged to dress in their brightest\, most glowing Christmas-themed attired. There will also be a limited supply of Christmas glow-in-the-dark goodies available before the walk\, free of charge\, to those who want to accessorise to the max! First come\, first served! \nTickets are free – get yours here and get the latest updates on the walk. You can also simply turn up on the evening and register onsite. \nThis event is grant-funded via a partnership between Sligo BID and Sligo County Council. This grant is funded through the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport (Previously called the Department of Arts\, Culture\, Communications\, Media and Sports) Night Time Economy Pilot for Sligo Town. \nPlease note\, all u-16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult and all dogs/cat/assorted furry creatures must be leashed for the duration of the walk. DESCRIPTION:Sligo BID have partnered up with Sligo On Ice to offer Sensory Skating options on Tuesdays at 6pm and Sundays at 10am\, starting from Tuesday 18th November in the ice rink in Queen Maeve Square. This will help to offer Christmas fun to all in Sligo town. \nThe sensory skating sessions will offer reduced numbers\, low lights and low sounds.
