SUMMARY:Declan Nerney in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Irish country music icon Declan Nerney has been inducted into the Irish Country Music Hall of Fame\, cementing his status as a beloved national treasure. The honour was bestowed during the Late Late Country Music Special\, where Nerney received his award to the delight of fans and fellow artists alike. A Lifetime of Music\, Charm\, and Heartfelt Storytelling. \nBorn in Drumlish\, County Longford\, Nerney’s early passion for music was shaped by the vibrant showband scene. At just 16\, he joined his first band\, The Hi-Lows\, and soon after became a fixture on stages across Ireland. His breakthrough came with the autobiographical hit “The Marquee in Drumlish”\, a tribute to his childhood and the cultural heartbeat of rural Irish music. \nOver more than four decades\, Nerney has crafted a catalogue brimming with signature songs that resonate across generations—”Stop the World (and Let Me Off)”\, “Anna from Fermanagh”\, “Three Way Love Affair”\, and others—all co-written with collaborator Henry McMahon. \nA dedicated performer and storyteller\, Nerney has remained ever-present in the Irish country music scene. He often returns to headline historic venues and festivals—such as the “Marquee in Drumlish\,” which he celebrates as “one of the top ten events in Ireland.” Join Declan and his fantastic band with special guests Effie Neill and Gavin Gribben for a memorable night of music\, song and fun.

SUMMARY:The Sligo Camino
DESCRIPTION:The 11th Annual Sligo Camino takes place on Saturday\, 4th July 2026\, offering a spectacular 32.5km walking experience from Dromahair in County Leitrim to Coolaney in County Sligo. Following sections of the scenic Sligo Way\, this challenging trek guides participants through a rich mix of forest trails\, quiet tracks and country lanes\, revealing some of the most beautiful landscapes in the west of Ireland. Along the route\, walkers will encounter highlights such as the historic Creevelea Abbey\, the tranquil shores of Lough Gill and Slish Woods\, and the iconic Lake Isle of Inishfree\, closely associated with W. B. Yeats. \nThe journey continues through the uplands of Slieve Dhá Éan and past hidden gems like Lough Lumman\, before winding by Ballygawley Lough\, Union Wood and the Teeling Memorial from the 1798 rebellion. The final stretch leads through the peaceful laneways of the Annaghmore Estate\, where a warm welcome awaits at the finish in Coolaney. Organised entirely by volunteers\, the Sligo Camino is not only a rewarding physical challenge but also a meaningful community event\, with all proceeds supporting local development projects.
