Formed in 2019, Glór na dTonn are a young Céilí Band (with half Sligo and half Mayo membership and one from Waterford), who strive to produce a lively Connaught style of dance music inspired by some of Connaught’s finest musicians such as the legendary James Morrison and Martin Wynne.
The name Glór na dTonn came about as the band members hail from the beautiful coastal counties. Glór na dTonn are the current reigning Connaught champions and silver medallists at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in 2023. Bróga Briomhar Dancing School is a Sligo based Sean Nós dancing school run by Eiméar Mulvey. They hold weekly dance classes for tots, kids, teens and adults all around the county. Eiméar is an all ireland dance champion herself and teaching the oldest form of traditional dance in Ireland she and her dancers will combine with the band to provide a display that will knock some sparks out of the rig for all to enjoy!
They will be performing in Queen Maeve Square on Sunday 5th May.
