International Summer School and Festival
Sligo Jazz Project’s summer school, Europe’s premier jazz education event, encompasses a holistic learning and performance experience for musicians of all levels with some of the greatest musicians on the planet, providing participants with inspiration, education and entertainment in equal measure, with a festival completely immersed in the community in beautiful Yeats Country, Sligo.
The summer school programme runs 10am-4pm each day in ATU Sligo and is followed by twice daily jam sessions for participants, and a full blown international jazz festival programme with the main concerts at the Hawks Well Theatre always the highlight. Featuring Artist in Residence, Cuban born pianist/composer Elio Villafranca, Young Artist in residence Scottish pianist Fergus McCreadie, top US trumpeter Freddie Hendrix and Korean drummer Sun Mi Hong and many others in a 30-strong 2024 teaching faculty of Irish and International jazz stars, all of whom perform at the jazz festival, running in sync with the educational event.
