Sligo Youth Choral Festival is a new venture, exclusively for young people, showcasing the amazing talent of school and youth choirs.
Sligo International Choral Festival was in existence for 30 years, and always had a very high standard of entries from school and youth choirs.
A few of the previous committee felt very passionate about choral music, especially for young people, so, in November 2023, they decided to run a youth choral festival. They held their second festival in November 2024 and they look forward to welcoming both new and returning choirs in 2025.
This year they are excited to announce extra competitions to include Primary school and Children’s choirs, Junior and Senior youth choirs, as well as their competitions for Secondary schools.
They are delighted to collaborate with Sing Ireland in offering a Special Bursary Award to a conductor in the secondary school competitions to attend Sing Ireland’s 45th International Choral Conducting Summer School.
