The 11th Annual Sligo Camino takes place on Saturday, 4th July 2026, offering a spectacular 32.5km walking experience from Dromahair in County Leitrim to Coolaney in County Sligo. Following sections of the scenic Sligo Way, this challenging trek guides participants through a rich mix of forest trails, quiet tracks and country lanes, revealing some of the most beautiful landscapes in the west of Ireland. Along the route, walkers will encounter highlights such as the historic Creevelea Abbey, the tranquil shores of Lough Gill and Slish Woods, and the iconic Lake Isle of Inishfree, closely associated with W. B. Yeats.
The journey continues through the uplands of Slieve Dhá Éan and past hidden gems like Lough Lumman, before winding by Ballygawley Lough, Union Wood and the Teeling Memorial from the 1798 rebellion. The final stretch leads through the peaceful laneways of the Annaghmore Estate, where a warm welcome awaits at the finish in Coolaney. Organised entirely by volunteers, the Sligo Camino is not only a rewarding physical challenge but also a meaningful community event, with all proceeds supporting local development projects.
