Set along the Garavogue River and Lough Gill, Uisce Álainn is a moving celebration of community, nature, and healing.
Led by Medb’s Dragon Warriors, Sligo’s first All Cancer Paddler Dragon Boat Club, the event brings together cancer survivors, supporters, and visitors to experience the restorative power of water. Participants take to the water in dragon boats, kayaks, and rowing vessels, embracing the calming benefits of Blue Mental Health while promoting respect for the waterways and their surrounding ecosystem.
The day opens with the symbolic Wakening of the Dragon ceremony, followed by a heartfelt Flower Ceremony and the opportunity to leave a tribute on the Memory Tree.
As the event unfolds, visitors can engage with a biodiversity workshop, before gathering at the finish for food, music, and shared reflection.
More than an event, Uisce Álainn is an invitation to connect, remember, and experience the healing power of water in the heart of Sligo.
