The Yeats Day Festival is a celebration of the life of William Butler Yeats – the first Nobel winner from Ireland. Yeats took much of his inspiration from his upbringing and family connection in Sligo and his final resting place is in Drumcliffe Church, under Ben Bulben mountain. The Yeats Society delivers special events throughout this festival to celebrate Yeats and preserve him memory.
