Hazelwood Forest Audio Guide

New audio trail launched in Hazelwood Forest, Sligo

Enjoy a walk with a difference in a beautiful forest setting with the free audio tour of Hazelwood by TrailAudio.

Located on the edge of Sligo town on the banks of beautiful Lough Gill, Hazelwood is a 4.2km looped trail suitable for all levels of fitness. TrailAudio is an online web and application based platform that provides free audio files to walkers. Simply scan the QR code on each sign to find out more! At each of 8 Points of Interest along the trail you simply scan the QR code and click the PLAY buttons to activate the audio through your phone or Bluetooth headset and off you go!

As you move through the forest they tell you about your surroundings, from when the forest was first planted right through to present day restoration works.  They tell you about the people who lived and worked here, tales of mythology and mystery, love and loss, drawing back the forest veil to show what lies beneath. This TrailAudio also helps you identify tree and animal species here at Hazelwood, which is one of Coillte’s national forests.

They also provide you with mindfulness exercises along the trail as part of this truly immersive experience. Once you’ve completed the walk, be sure to leave a comment on the TrailAudio social channels and follow hashtag #trailaudio for further audio guides in the locality

How does it work?

Simply scan the code and click the PLAY buttons to activate the audio through your phone or Bluetooth headset and off you go!

Scan QR Code > Website or App > Select Language > Play Audio

Scan any of the QR codes located at Points of Interest (POIs) on the walking trail.

This brings you to the TrailAudio.ie website or App where you select your language.

The audio files play automatically as you walk, providing information that gives a more immersive experience. For an even better acoustic experience you can pair with headphones via Bluetooth. Each POI has varied information to keep things as interesting as the walk itself.
