Sligo Folk Park is located in the beautiful village of Riverstown, County Sligo. This community based attraction provides a true experience of rural life and Irish heritage at the turn of the 19th Century. The Folk Park is set in the grounds of the authentically restored Millview House, which was originally built in 1873 by George Reid a farmer, shoemaker and the local church sexton. Stroll around the park and visit the wonderful museum and evocative exhibition hall which houses one of Ireland’s finest collections of rural history and agricultural artefacts.

Catering to all ages and group sizes, Sligo Folk Park has something for everyone. With a vast array of different exhibits and 6 acres of mature, landscaped gardens, a visit to Sligo Folk Park is the trip down memory lane everyone can enjoy. They are located 15 minutes from Sligo Town and the same from Boyle in County Roscommon.

Events

They are delighted to host a variety of events including the annual Santatown to their famous Halloween “Scare in the Park”.

They also have a host of other events for the little kids to enjoy on their 6 acre site. From their Easter Egg Hunt to their Teddy Bears Picnic these are guaranteed to be a fun filled day for the whole family. As pre-booking is necessary they would advise to book tickets in advance as there are limited spaces available.

About Riverstown

Riverstown is a gorgeous little village in the heart of South Sligo and is home to the fabulous Sligo Folk Park. The village has a long and proud history with Irish traditional music and every year the James Morrison festival draws music enthusiasts from around the world. Coopershill Estate is in the village and is an amazing place for corporate retreats and family get togethers – you can hire the whole place.

This is an ideal spot to stop in if you are driving to Sligo from Dublin – particularly if you have young children in the car. Pull off the main road and let them enjoy the outdoor playground and get a tasty treat in the cafe in the Folk Park!
