Sligo Arts Service is a department of Sligo County Council, working in partnership with the Arts Council of Ireland and key stakeholders locally, regionally and nationally to deliver a high quality arts service for the people of County Sligo.

Sligo Civil Defence personnel attend numerous events throughout the year, and provide first aid and ambulance cover at many important sporting and community events. Volunteers are trained in a range of skills and techniques.
Sligo is the only working harbour between Galway and Derry. Two working jetties (Deepwater and Barytes) handle cargoes of coal, timber, fish meal and scrap. The national roads, N15, N16 and N4 converge at the city of Sligo, which has attained Gateway status. The Inner Review Road provides easy access to the harbour.
