Sligo Town Set for a Spooktacular Halloween with Family Fun, Magical Lights and Scary Sights
Sligo Town is set for a spooktacular Halloween celebration on Saturday, 31 October, with a day of family fun, a Trick or Treat Passport adventure and the free evening event Lights & Scary Sights at Queen Maeve Square.
The celebrations will invite children, families and visitors to enjoy Halloween throughout the town, combining a novel trick or treat experience with an evening of spectacular entertainment, colourful illuminations and magical performances.
From 10am, families can collect their Trick or Treat Passport from the Sligo BID Tourist Office and set off on a Halloween adventure around participating businesses between 12pm and 6pm throughout Sligo Town. Children are encouraged to dress up in their spookiest costumes and visit participating locations to collect Halloween-themed stamps in their passports.
Those who complete their passports can return to the Sligo BID Tourist Office before 6pm to claim a special Halloween medal. Participating businesses include Liber Bookshop, Action, Kool Kidz, Sligo Library, North West Hospice Shop, Next, Centra on Castle Street, Carraig Donn, Hooked, Bistro Bianconi, Eason O’Connell Street, The Hobby Shop, The ImagiNation and Pasta Fresca.
The festivities will continue into the evening with Lights & Scary Sights, taking place at Queen Maeve Square from 4pm to 7pm. This free, family-friendly event will bring the square to life with giant roaming Morrígu puppets, a spectacular hound dog on stilts, interactive shadow puppet theatre, face painting and a thrilling fire performance.
As dusk falls, Queen Maeve Square will be transformed with atmospheric lighting, shimmering tree projections, Halloween decorations and spooky sounds, creating an enchanting setting for families and visitors to enjoy. With larger-than-life characters, captivating performances and plenty of surprises, the event promises a memorable Halloween experience for all ages.
Together, the two events offer families the opportunity to explore Sligo Town, support local businesses and enjoy a full day of Halloween entertainment in the heart of the community. These events have received support from Sligo BID and Sligo County Council.
Everyone is welcome to join the celebrations on Saturday, 31 October, and enjoy a frightfully fun Halloween in Sligo Town.
