Invest – Sligo 2030 Two Years On

Cover page of Sligo 2030 Two Years On

In 2023, Sligo 2030 – One Voice One Vision set out an ambitious plan for a smart, sustainable and inclusive county. Two years on, the mid term review shows clear progress — with investment translating into delivery across housing, infrastructure, tourism, skills, health and climate action.

We invite you to review the progress report – Sligo 2030 LECP_Two Years On.

For businesses, investors, visitors, and communities, Sligo 2030 provides clarity, confidence and a coordinated framework for growth.

What Is Sligo 2030 – One Voice One Vision?

Sligo 2030 – One Voice One Vision is Sligo’s Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP). It sets the strategic direction for the county’s economic, social and environmental development to 2030. The Sligo 2030 LECP delivers a coordinated approach to growth through:

  • 61 targeted actions
  • 37 actions led by Sligo County Council
  • 24 actions delivered with key partners and agencies

This structure ensures joined up delivery across sectors — reducing fragmentation and supporting long term investment planning in County Sligo.

Two Years of Delivery: Key Areas of Progress

The Sligo 2030 – Two Years On newsletter highlights tangible outcomes across multiple priority areas.

Tourism, Culture and Place Promotion
Sligo continues to strengthen its position as a high quality visitor and experience destination. Award winning digital innovation, major heritage investment, expanded cultural programming and a vibrant night time economy are driving the visitor economy while supporting town centre regeneration.

Housing and Sustainable Communities
Significant progress has been made in delivering social and affordable housing across Sligo. New homes have been completed, major schemes are under construction, and a strong development pipeline is aligned with the Housing Needs Demand Assessment and national Housing for All policy.

Health, Wellbeing and Quality of Life
Collaborative action between Sligo County Council, the HSE and community partners is delivering integrated healthcare, preventative initiatives and community wellbeing programmes. These investments support workforce attraction, retention and overall liveability.

Climate Action and Biodiversity
The launch of the County Sligo Biodiversity Action Plan 2025–2030 supports Sligo’s commitment to climate resilience and environmental stewardship. Practical, community-led projects protect natural assets while supporting sustainable land use and development.

Active Travel and Infrastructure
Investment in walking, cycling and greenway infrastructure is improving connectivity, reducing emissions and supporting healthier lifestyles. These projects enhance accessibility for residents, employees and visitors alike.

Skills, Innovation and Inclusion
ATU Sligo, Mayo Sligo Leitrim Education & Training Board, Skillnet, and other educational partners play a key role in delivering flexible, digital and skills based learning aligned with employer needs. PEACEPLUS funding, digital connectivity programmes and support for social enterprise strengthen Sligo’s innovation ecosystem and inclusive growth model.

A Living Plan Supporting Long Term Investment

Sligo 2030 is a living plan, supported by ongoing monitoring and evaluation. This ensures the county can respond to emerging challenges while continuing to deliver on strategic priorities.
Crucially, progress to date demonstrates Sligo’s capacity to turn strategy into delivery — providing certainty and confidence for investors, partners and businesses considering County Sligo as a location for growth.

Sligo – continuing to grow as a place to live, work and invest.
