Holiday World Show 2024 Recap and Thank you

The Visit Sligo stand at the Holiday World Show in Dublin this January left a lasting impression on attendees, showcasing the beauty and unique attractions of one of Ireland’s most enchanting destinations.

This event was a fantastic platform for many of our wonderful attractions, accommodation providers and food and drink producers and the Visit Sligo stand emerged as a standout attraction. It showcased the wonderful natural environment of Sligo and featured tasting events, give aways and an extremely popular competition. Drawing visitors with the vibrant imagery, local style traditional music and warm hospitality, the sentiment from visitors was overwhelmingly positive towards Sligo.

The carefully curated representation of Sligo’s rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and diverse activities left attendees eager to explore the county for themselves. Many visitors remarked on their desire to visit Sligo for the first time, or indeed return after enjoying a visit in the past.

Representatives from the Sligo tourism industry were on hand to engage with visitors, offering recommendations and insights into the myriad of experiences the county has to offer. From the unique natural landscape to the range of things to do and enjoy, attendees gained valuable insights into the hidden gems that make Sligo a must-visit location. The focus on sustainability was recognised by many visitors and the friendliness of our people made a lasting impression.

The Visit Sligo stand featured live demonstrations of Sligo style traditional Irish music, creating an authentic atmosphere that transported visitors to the heart of Sligo’s vibrant cultural scene. The lively performances captivated audiences and underscored the rich cultural tapestry awaiting those who choose to explore this captivating region.

Commenting on the success of the Visit Sligo stand, Dorothy Clarke – Director of Sligo County Council, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming positive response.

“We are delighted with the reception our stand received at the Holiday World Show in Dublin.

It was truly heartening to see visitors captivated by the beauty and charm of Sligo. We believe that the experiences we shared will inspire many to make Sligo their next travel destination.”

Reflecting on the industry opportunities that this type of event provides, Aidan McCormack – Tourism Officer at Sligo Council invited any and all interested parties to engage with Sligo County Council to maximise future opportunities.

“Events like this represent a great opportunity for both new and established tourism businesses in Sligo to showcase the very best of what they do to an engaged audience.

Visitors to events like this are actively planning their trips and holidays and we will do everything we can work with all interested parties to promote Sligo as best we can.”

With its successful participation in the Holiday World Show, Visit Sligo has not only heightened awareness of the region but has also left an indelible mark on the minds of those seeking unique and memorable travel experiences. Sligo’s allure as a diverse and wholesome destination is now firmly etched in the memories of the show’s attendees.
